World Schizophrenia Day (May 24)

Schizophrenia is a brain disorder that predominantly affects youth between 15 and 35 years of age. It affects one’s ability to think, feel and act normally and so makes life difficult and challenging. This is the result of biochemical abnormalities in the brain which are caused by interaction of genetic and socio environmental factors. With several recent advances in psychiatry, Schizophrenia is a treatable illness and recovery is a reasonable goal. Initiating proper treatment as early as possible will bring good results and help people return to their pre morbid levels of functioning. For this to happen, people should be aware about this illness and understand its nature.

It is with the aim of creating awareness about this illness which is considered “The greatest disabler of youth”, Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF), We have planned several activities to reach out the unreached.
